If you are to enter the new blessings God has prepared for you, it is indispensable to forget your past and see the old things as non-existent. You need to drive them out of your memories and thoughts, and keep them out of your consideration.
“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. (Isaiah 43:18)
Even God does not remember your sin after He forgives you.
“I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins. (Isaiah 43:25)
Ask God to clear your soul of your past and the old things, and make you as a clean slate.
The new wine cannot be poured into an old wineskin. If you want the new wine, you will need a new wineskin.
And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; …But new wine must be put into new wineskins.” (Mark 2:22)
When Jesus enters your heart, you become a new person, ready to partake of the new blessings, the new wine He has prepared for you. If you carry the old baggage into the new season, you will lose the new blessings as well as yourself. You will ruin both.
…or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. (Mark 2:22)
Therefore, you need to renew your mind, renew your soul before entering the new season. The Holy Spirit is the best Person to help you in this endeavor.
Put Me in remembrance; … (Isaiah 43:26)
Instead of your past, let God be in your thoughts.
Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? … (Isaiah 43:19)
The word ‘behold’ here is Strong’s H2005 ‘hēn,’ and one of the meanings of this word is “calling attention to some fact upon which action is to be taken, or a conclusion based.” If you want God to do a new thing in your life, you need to take some action, which is:
“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. (Isaiah 43:18)
Without this action, you cannot see the new blessings in your life.
Furthermore, the word ‘behold’ means to direct your attention to an important thing. That means God is trying to tell you that your mind is attending to unimportant or wrong things in life. It simply means you are acting stupid. Don’t be stupid in the spirit. Focus on the right things.
What you really need to pay attention to is the new thing God is going to do in your life.
…now it shall spring forth; … (Isaiah 43:19)
The phrase ‘spring forth’ means:
- To grow abundantly or thickly
- To gush out, rush out, or leap out
- To grow or come out suddenly and voluminously
That means your new blessings are subdued, pressed down by the weight of your bad memories, past experiences, pain from the past, or your old baggage. However, when you remove this weight, your new blessings will spring forth like gushing water. It’s like a spring that was pressed down by a certain force, and when the force was removed, the spring stretched upward/forward with great speed and power.
…shall you not know it? … (Isaiah 43:19)
When your new blessings spring forth, not just you but everybody around you will know it. You will try to contain your new blessings, but you will fail because the flow of your new blessings from Heaven will be too much to handle.
As the young prophet said, you will try to be humble, you will try to stay quiet, but your coat of many colors will refuse to. You will try to hide your new blessings, but you will not be able to. They shall spring forth. Amen.
