Shyness and innocence are okay up to a certain limit; however, when they start to hinder the work of God’s kingdom, they are no longer expected to be in the accepted list. You may have a strong, burning desire to pick up the slack and employ yourself in the ministry, but if you cannot stop comforting yourself in your comfort chair then it all goes in vain.
Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
You’ve got to make a move in your life if you want to be of some use to the Kingdom. All you gotta do is to take that ‘step of faith’ and the rest will be taken care of by the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:57 – But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
When you take that step, victory is bound to come by. No matter what your weaknesses or infirmities are, God can still make you something out of nothing. We often look at ourselves and lose focus of the Cross. The natural world will always discourage you; the spiritual, on the contrary, will never. Remember Peter walking on the water in Matthew 14.29? Why did he still drown while he was making history through his walk of faith on the water? Because he lost his focus on Jesus.
How do we lose our focus on God? By showing doubt or unbelief. Faith is something which you do (in the will of God) out of your comfort zone, having no prior knowledge of what is to come and only leaning on God to face the subsequent circumstance. It is when you keep your mind on God, every obstacle in your life seems to just melt away. Remember, the Cross of Jesus Christ has power to demolish the strongholds of darkness in your life.
Numbers 21:9 – So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.
This powerful scripture shows how the people of Israel were healed and delivered from a plague of snakes when they focused on the brass serpent, hanging on a pole, made by Moses. What does this represent? You see, the stronghold here was the plague, which vanished (yes, literally vanished) when the people of Israel trusted God and put their eyes on the pole. As we know, the pole is the Cross and the serpent is Christ Jesus, who became sin (serpent) on the Cross for our sins to be forgiven and for making grace available to us.
So now, nothing should hinder you from being a working member of the Body of Christ. Trust God and get off that comfy seat. Everybody has a unique purpose in life; you don’t want that purpose to be left undone for the Kingdom. Work for the Lord and be a proud head. No storm in your life is too strong to overcome the hand of God (Mark 4.39) and no darkness is too dark to stop the sun rising the next day.
